Learn to be a Coder!

Friday, May 24 11:00 am-12:00 pm
Computer/Games Room

Ever been curious about computer programming but had no idea where to start? Well if you can put lego blocks together, you can be a coder using a visual programming language called "Scratch"! In this funshop, led by LiG'er Dave Cadwallader, you'll learn how to build a simple game from the ground-up. Next, we'll explore the Scratch Community, in which you can browse and play games created by community members all over the world. This will lead us to the best part -- we'll "Remix" one of these community games, creating our own copy, where we can tweak the code to behave in exciting, and unexpected ways. All that's required for this funshop is a desktop or laptop computer with a web browser. Unfortunately phones and tablets do not work. Limited desktop computers are available in the computer room. If you have a laptop to bring, that would be a big help!
